SHINJUKU - Shinjuku Station
Shinjuku is really two cities, one east and one west of the station. Nishi Shinjuku is a forest of high-rise buildings. When seen from a distance, it looks like the city of Oz rising from the plains. East of the station, there's a jumble of stores, restaurants, bars and raucous nightlife spots. Dividing the two is Shinjuku Station, Japan's and maybe world's busiest - over two million people pass through each weekday. It is certainly furiously busy and congested, and if one is unfamiliar with the station, patience can melt within minutes.
