St Mary's Cathedral
Further work on the cathedral continued into the 20th century, however the Depression and World War II hampered a speedy completion. Originally it had been proposed that the nave would extend into Murray Street in the Gothic style, but due to lack of funds these plans were never brought to fruition. If you look closely at the architecture there are iron bars visible where the separate parts of the cathedral were to join.
