The sunniest state capital in Australia, Perth is a vibrant and modern city, situated on the Swan and Canning Rivers, with the cerulean Indian Ocean to the west and the ancient Darling Range to the east. Perth is the most isolated capital city in the world, being closer to Singapore than it is to Sydney.

The city's stunning natural envinronment is enhanced by the beaches of the Indian Ocean, hillside hideaways and the historic prt of Fremantle. The Swan River is fringed with affluent suburbs with leafy streets and tree names such as Peppermint Grove, Applecorss, Floreat, Maylands and Cottesloe, as well as cosmopolitan enclaves of cafes, restaurants and designer boutiques. The city centre has more than its fair share of concrete and glass skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The city's domineering edifices hide a handful of lovely 19th-century buildings and facades, which remain from Perth's early days as the Swan River Colony.
